Overview Zipp 858 NSW Carbon Disc Brake Road Wheel Description: The Zipp 858 NSW Disc Brake Road Wheel has a deep aerodynamic profile designed to provide incredible performance and comfort for anyone who feels the need for speed. At the center of the wheel
The Zipp 858 NSW Disc Brake Road Wheel has a deep aerodynamic profile designed to provide incredible performance and comfort for anyone who feels the need for speed. At the center of the wheel is a brand new, lightweight ZR1 SL hub that is packed full of ceramic bearings for improved long term durability and significantly less rolling resistance than comparable steel cartridge hub bearings. The rear SRAM XDR or Shimano Road HG freehubs utilize a proven and robust 6-pawl driving mechanism with 66 points of engagement, allowing for efficient and rapid forward propulsion. Lightweight Sapim CX-Ray spokes fill the gap between the rim and the hubs, and these premium bladed stainless steel spokes assist in improving aerodynamics, comfort, durability, and overall performance.
While the center of the 858 NSW Wheel is impressive, the rim is where these wheels truly shine. These rims utilize a special unidirectional carbon fiber construction to reduce the rotating weight to a level typically associated with much shallower rims while retaining impressive impact strength. These deep dish rims also have a variable depth Sawtooth rim profile, Hyperfoil Nodes, HexFin ABLC dimple pattern, and hookless sidewall profile which combine to create more stability in crosswinds and will slide through the air so easily that the reduction in aero drag can be felt and measured in real world riding conditions. A 23mm inner rim width works with the hookless design to reduce tire deflection and rolling resistance as well as increase the air volume for improved flat protection, a smoother ride, and improved traction especially through corners and over rougher tarmac. The integration of all of these impressive components and features together results in a comfortable, durable, and super aerodynamic wheel that will allow a rider to blitz through triathlons, time trials, and any other pure test of speed easier and faster than ever before.
Notes: The max recommended system weight of these wheels (weight of the bicycle, rider, and anything else on the bike when riding) is 250lbs (114 KG). Maximum aerodynamic benefits are with 28mm wide tires, but will accept 28-32mm wide hookless rim compatible tires.
